Born and raised in York, Philip still bases himself close to his roots and when not competing abroad you can find him doing most of his training around the Yorkshire dales.
Philip first tasted success in triathlon during the National Championships in 2006, most notably with an impressive bike leg holding his own against some of the British top seniors. In 2008 he built on a solid previous season by winning the British Universities Standard Distance Triathlon Championship.
However it was in 2009 where he really made a name for himself by bursting onto the Ironman scene. He won both the Ironman 70.3UK and Ironman UK events, at just 20 years old. This made him the youngest ever Ironman champion in the history of the sport. In the same year Philip lead the whole field on the bike during the prestigious 2009 Ford Ironman World Championships in Hawaii, gaining a reputation for being a very accomplished cyclist. 2009 also saw Philip selected for his first senior appearance for the Great Britain triathlon team competing at the European Olympic Distance Championships.
Philip’s main focus is on Ironman events and hopes to one day win the World Ironman Championships whilst still competing in various triathlons on a global scale.
