ASICS Running Clinics Running Coach Bud Baldaro talks about keeping running fun
Bud Baldaro gives us his tips for the best way to keep motivated with your running – to maximize your enjoyment! If you’re enjoying what you do, you are more likely to stick to it and to get more out of it. Here is Bud’s advice for enjoying running:
Running is a time for yourself!
A time to escape stresses and strains of daily life; to leave job pressures behind, to escape momentarily, family/relationship concerns.
Running can be a great support when you feel threatened or overwhelmed and if used properly can allow you to put issues in a more positive perspective.
And the great thing about running is that you can do it from literally anywhere e.g. the office, a hotel, at the in-laws and always with a minimum of kit required.
Use your running to explore imaginatively and creatively your local environment.
Find the places that other folk miss – the trails, the quiet parks, the obscure pathways, the interesting passageways. It is staggering how running can lead you to discover a gem of a park or trail nearby that you had never found before. On holidays it is a great way to uncover some local small village treasure.
Determine what the best time for you to run is e.g. early morning as the world is waking or twilight as dusk is descending.
Let your running be a form of enhancing your life and a way of giving yourself some personal and private time.
Don’t get stressed about your running rather use it to be free and relaxed.
It is one of the most natural acts humans know so enjoy it and revel in the freedom it offers you as a running person.
