Tips to help prevent blistering from Clifton Bradeley
Here are podiatrist and ASICS PRO Team member Clifton Bradeley's top tips to help prevent getting blisters on your feet from running.
- Have your shoes fitted by a specialist running retailer
- Have a finger width between the end of your toes and the end of the shoe (feet can lengthen slightly and swell towards the end of a long run when they become tired).
- Make sure your foot fits on the midsole correctly (If your forefoot hangs over the edge of the midsole you will increase your risk of injury and blistering).
- Make sure the heel counter is a snug fit (If they feel tight in the store they will feet tight whilst running).
- Wear correct running shocks. (E.g. Seamless or dual lined).
- Rub a small amount of talcum powder over risk areas before running.
- Wear anti blister chiropody tape over prone areas.
- Do not fasten laces to tight or to slack.
- An orthotic can also prevent plastering very successfully.
