Rearfoot GEL

Rearfoot GEL

ASICS GEL is a silicone-based cushioning system designed to meet the needs of both professional and recreational athletes. Rearfoot GEL provides cushioning in all directions, absorbs impact forces and helps to stabilise the foot during heel contact.

Biomorphic Fit

Biomorphic Fit

Biomorphic Fit technology allows the upper of the shoe to move in harmony with the foot, giving more comfort while in motion. This fit means the shoe material does not bunch, reducing the risk of blisters or irritation.

I have collapsed arches and this causes severe pain in my calf muscle as i run, which means i have to stop. Are these trainers suitable for me

  • Mairead (ASICS staff) :

    Hi Steve,

Yes the Evolution has a support system for those who over pronate. It would be worth going to a store and have your running gait looked at to see how you are running exactly, as the arch collapse may have a varying level of impact on your running pattern.

The GEL-FOUNDATION also has substantial support for over-pronators, if you indeed need that level of stability.

Iv been flat footed since birth (I think) I never used to be able to run on the road, Id get 1 mile or so down the road and my ankles would hurt for days, Iv just brought the evo 4's for £45 and well I ran 7.6 miles yesterday and Im fine. Evo you saved my ankles and knees. You could say this is a life changing moment. Now Iv hyped you up asics please send me free gear.

I have triead quite a few shoes now, and as I am an over pronator I ended up paying £75 for a pair of these. Nice light shoe with good looks.

I do have shin splints or something like it and found that it became severe whilst running in these shoes. The impact feels hard and as the shoe moves through the gait cycle you get a feeling of rigidness.

I have stopped running in them and resorted to my gel-foundation 8 's

gel foundation 8 now on order for second pair/all day wear and at half the cost of the evo's

If you are over 15 stones these may not be good for you

  • Michael :

I have really flat feet, and since I changed to Evolutions I have had very few shin splint or ankle problems - definitely a good support shoe which I would recommend to anyone who overpronates.

  • Hollie Cradduck :

I have been to a paediatrician about the pain I get in my knees and shins due to flat feet and collapsed arches. You may be suffering from pronation where your foot rolls inwards, in that case this is the shoe you need, like me. It gives you support in your arches.
    Hope this helps :)

i have collapsed arches which are causing severe shin splints. i weigh 85 kg and run reasonably high mileage - ironman. i have always run in the Asics GT range but since suffering from collapsed arches have found them to not be the correct shoe. what do you recommen? the Evolution has been recommended to me, does it have good arch support for collapsed arches?
    many thanks.
