Soft Top Duomax is a softer top layer of the Duomax midsole. Together with the Gender Specific Space Trusstic, Soft Top Duomax accommodates for fluctuations in women's hormonal levels which cause the foot arches to be lowered, creating more pressure on the plantar fascia. By using a lower-density material, Soft Top Duomax provides a more comfortable transition from heel strike to toe-off without sacrificing stability.
Plus3 refers to a 3mm raise of the heel compared to the forefoot. The effect this has is to reduce strain on the Achilles tendon. As women's hormonal levels fluctuate during their monthly cycle, the Achilles tendon becomes lax or stretches, increasing the potential for injury. Plus3 reduces the load and tension on the Achilles tendon and reduces the risk of injuries.

Hello
I was just sold these shoes and told that I could speed walk and run in them. I haven't exercised due to various medical issues, in the last three years and also just had a baby - was I misled, or is this the case?
Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you!

How long should a pair of trainers last? I run 3-4 times a week, averaging about 20 miles per week.
Cheers

Catrin Harston - No. These are for the mild to moderate over-pronator. You being a neutral runner should go for something else. Asics Nimbus 11, cumulus 11, Landreth 5 or Stratus 3 would have been better suited. It sounds as though you have been sold the most expensive pair.
Richie. Get them online. If you got on with them and were told you were a mild to moderate over-pronator then the next generation will still be the shoe for you.

I have a pair of Kayano 15's which got me through my London Marathon training and the Marathon itself but they are starting to get a few holes in and I've clocked up around 400 miles in them. They were recomended by my local running shop after they checked my feet over and watched me take a few strides in them. Should I just go for the 16's now or do I need to go back to the shop and get them checked for suitability? They are about £30 cheaper on line!

Catrin Harston :
I was sold this shoe as a neutral runner. Is this the correct show? My physio believes it is not and I need confirmation as to whether I should continue to try and train in these or buy a more specific neutral shoe.
Thank you

My original plan was: get the same model as you used the years before, because they were offering them for half the price, saving money is always great if it's not at the expense of your health, so I thought.
Now that didn't go so well! ;-D
That girl in the shop did an analysis for me and suggested several show models starting from 60 Euros up to the Kayano 16 women's shoes. As soon as that thing hit my feet I knew I HAD to have them, no matter what prize they are. It feels like running on clouds!
Wonderful shoes, I'm glad I found them. I use them mainly for running on trails and forest paths and never had a more stable and light experience!

Having just had major foot surgery on my foot, to correct a torn tendon, collapsed arch and distorted ankle posture, I was advised to try soem Asics trainers. I resisted trying them on as I really wanted a plain pair of trainers that didn't have any pink on them whatsoever and as little flashy logos as possible. Eventually, a shop assistant convinced me to try on the Gel-Kayano 16 trainer and from that moment on, I knew I had to have them.
Although I am still on two crutches, over night, I can actually stand solid without feeling like someone could push me over with their little finger. Additionally, I can also walk with less of a limp and feel like my posture has improved.
I am now working on my mother, to convince her to try them too! I can now say "my dogs aren't barking anymore" as my feet are no longer the focus of my attention!
Go try them on for yourself!

I visited a running shop a number of years ago and the guy asked to see my old trainers which he looked over and said I am a neutral runner then showed me various suitable trainers from budget pairs to a pair of Kayano's which were the top end of the price range. I left with a budget pair and my first pair of Kayano's. I soon ditched the budget pair and have always stuck with the Kayano's.
I have also visit the Asics Tech Tours for computerised analysis of my gait, they have suggested other cheaper Asic trainers but I still come away with another pair of Kayano's.
I couldn't rave enough about the comfort of these trainers and how long they last for, worth every penny.
If you're not sure, visit a specialist running shop and get their advice or an Asics Tech Tour, I do every year to see if my gait alters. Don't forget to take your current trainers with you.
I'm visiting this website to buy another pair.
In a nutshell, fab trainer

Hi there!
What are the disadvantages of wearing this shoe if you are a neutral runner and do not overpronate?
Thank you very much!!
